Do you even genre? No. Not really.
A lot of authors stick to one genre. They’ll write supernatural romance, and if they have an idea for science fiction, they’ll pick a new pen name to publish it under. Someday, I might! But some of the authors I admire most choose to write whatever catches their fantasy and publish it under a single name. They trust their readers will be able to choose what they’ll love best from the books on offer, and that maybe, their readers will trust them in return to publish enjoyable, high-quality work in genres those readers might not have explored yet. As of this moment, this is my approach. Read what you love. Try what you might love next. I’ll keep the words coming.
